College Courses and Future Pathways

Get college credit in high school.

The Academy and Antelope Valley College have a dual enrollment partnership that allows our eligible High School students to take college classes.  For those interested in more advanced courses or getting a jump on college requirements, dual enrollment programs may be the right fit.

We offer college credit through three different programs: Career and Technical Education), Articulation, Dual Enrollment. Not all courses will transfer to all universities, so please check with each school to see how what will apply.

CTE pathways that set the stage.

Career and Technical Education, or CTE, pathways are course sequences designed to guide students toward specific industries. They also prepare students for post-secondary options like industry certifications, two-year college degrees, and four-year university programs.

Digital Arts & Game Design

Students learn the art and science of game creation from storyboarding and illustration to coding and interaction design. By introducing students to the process of conceptualizing, designing, and creating playable interactive digital experiences through project-based learning, students are exposed to a variety of roles within game art and design and supported to pursue different paths within the field.

Intro-Data Science and Machine Learning

This pathway introduces students to the rapidly evolving world of data science and machine learning, fields shaping aerospace innovation and everyday technology. Students will explore how data drives decision-making, uncover patterns, and begin to understand how machines learn from information.

Whether you’re interested in engineering, tech, or solving real-world problems, this program sets the foundation for advanced coursework and future-forward careers.

Dual enrollment with AVC

Dual enrollment is a program that allows high school students to take college courses while still in high school. These courses count for both high school and college credit at the same time. For more information, please contact your counselor.

Eligibility

Dual enrollment is open to 11th and 12th grade students, though 9th and 10th graders may qualify with special approval. Students will need to meet a minimum GPA and may be required to take placement tests.

Where Classes Are Taken

Classes may be taken on-site at Antelope Valley College (AVC), online, or occasionally on the high school campus if instructors meet the necessary qualifications. Class availability and locations change each semester, please contact your counselor for the most current information.

Special Admit / Concurrent Enrollment

This option allows motivated students to enroll in Antelope Valley College (AVC) classes independently, outside of TPAA’s dual enrollment partnership. These courses often take place during evenings, weekends, or summer sessions and are a great way to explore subjects not offered at TPAA or take additional classes beyond your regular schedule. In class with regular AVC college students, not just other high schoolers.

Special admit students must complete the Special Admit Application Checklist and work with their counselor to get started.

Articulation

Articulation allows our students to earn college credit for certain high school courses, helping them avoid repeating content and saving time and money. It ensures a smooth transition from high school to college-level programs and career pathways.

Talk to your counselor for help with the form and to confirm which courses are currently articulated.

How Does Articulation Work?

TPAA partners with Antelope Valley College to align certain high school courses with college credit opportunities. Our staff and AVC faculty work together to review curriculum and create formal articulation agreements on a rotating cycle.

To receive college credit, students work with their counselor to complete the 2+2 Articulation Form within 3 years of finishing the course.
